200 Words or Less: Worthy of Worship

Because the sinful mind cannot fully comprehend God’s worthiness, God outlines for His people how to worship Him in a worthy way.

From Old Testament rules for the tabernacle to Romans 12:1, God’s attention to detail regarding how to worship emphasizes that it should be given only to the worthy, because the most valuable thing you can give anyone is not your love; it is your worship.

God teaches us how to continuously encounter and reflect His worthiness, both at church and throughout our week. His Word illustrates how much He cares for His people, for He provides them protection from His wrath by surrounding them with His instructions. The Psalmist says, “Thy word have I hidden in my heart that I may not sin against thee.” Thus, it is the word of God that protects us from worshiping sinfully, not the will of man. Only that which is from God could match His infinite value. Only His infinite strength could uphold us. “The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.” (Pr. 18:10)

O, Lord, teach us to how to worship. Teach us how to not give Your glory to another.
